Osman Ghazi History
In Osman Ghazi’s History, The Ottoman Empire (originally known as the Ottoman Beylik or Emirate, the Ottoman Empire or Osman Gazi; died 1323/4), also sometimes transliterated archaically as Othman, was founded by Osman I, or Ghazi. Osman’s belike began as a small Turkoman principality during his lifetime, but it eventually developed into a world empire in the centuries following his death.[7] It survived until the end of World War I.
Due to the dearth of primary sources from his lifetime, ascertaining conclusive details about Osman’s life is difficult. Not a single extant written account exists from Osman’s era, and the Ottomans withheld chronicling of him until centuries after his death. Consequently, historians are presented with the tricky task of discernment between what is factual and what is apocryphal in accounts of him. One historian even proclaimed it impossible to know anything for certain, labeling his lifetime as an “obscure period”.
Osman’s ancestry had been a source of debate for centuries, with later Ottoman tradition claiming he was descended from the Kayı tribe of Oghuz Turks. Yet, many experts on the subject have suggested that this could be nothing more than an attempt by those in power to legitimize the dynasty.
